When you’re reaching out to a photographer — whether for interior, food, commercial, or portrait work — a well-crafted inquiry saves time for both sides. It helps us understand your needs clearly and allows us to respond faster, with the right information, proposal, or quote.

Here’s how to write a professional inquiry that gets results:
1. Start with Who You Are
Introduce yourself briefly. Are you contacting on behalf of a company, agency, or as an individual? A simple line like:
“Hi, I’m Amanda from A&A Interiors — we’re looking to photograph a newly completed project in KL.”
…already tells us a lot.
2. What’s the Project About?
Let us know what you need photographed. Be as specific as you can:
- Is it interior, food, product, architecture, or people?
- Is this for editorial, portfolio, social media, packaging, billboard, etc.?
This helps us estimate the required approach, crew, and rights involved.
3. Where & When?
Include the location and timeline if known. For example:
“The shoot is tentatively scheduled for mid-August, in Bukit Jalil.”
Or if dates are flexible, just say so — that helps too.
4. Scope of Work
Roughly how many spaces, scenes, products, or people are involved? Any mood reference or style direction you prefer?
If you’re unsure, just describe what you’re trying to achieve. We can guide from there.
5. Your Budget (Optional, but Helpful)
We know some clients prefer to leave this out — but sharing even a rough range helps us propose a realistic plan. Professional work is always scalable depending on goals, deliverables, and production level.
6. Who’s the Contact Person?
Let us know who we’ll be communicating with — especially if multiple people are involved. One point of contact keeps things efficient.
Bonus: What to Avoid
- “How much do you charge?” (Too vague)
- “Can I get a quotation?” (Quotation for what, exactly?)
- “We want photos.” (Photos of…?)

A Sample Professional Inquiry:
Hi, I’m Amanda from A&A Interiors. We’re completing a new boutique office space in Damansara and would love to photograph it for our portfolio and PR. Tentative shoot window is early September. There are about 5 key areas we want to highlight. Happy to share our moodboard and reference shots. Could you let us know your availability and a rough idea of cost?
That’s it. Short, clear, and professional.

Why It Matters
Clear inquiries show you value your own work — and ours. It also sets the tone for the collaboration ahead.
If you’ve never worked with a professional photographer before, don’t worry — we’ll guide you through the process. But the more we know upfront, the smoother everything becomes.
