Architectural Photography for L A Architect

Designed by L A Architect, the Pusat Rekod Pendaftaran Negara in Cyberjaya presents a strong institutional character through its clean volumes, geometric façade screens and restrained material palette.

Architectural photography of Pusat Rekod Pendaftaran Negara (PRPN), also named Bangunan Nilam Sari, in Cyberjaya, Selangor, Malaysia. Photographed for LA Architect.

For this project, I focused on the architectural elements that give the building its identity — form, proportion, repetition and contrast.

The exterior photography explores the building at different scales. Wider views establish the overall massing and its relationship with the surrounding landscape, while closer compositions focus on the geometric façade screens and the depth they create across the elevations.

The façade was particularly interesting to photograph. The repeating geometric pattern changes character depending on the viewpoint — becoming part of the building’s overall rhythm from a distance, while appearing almost graphic when photographed closer.

Inside, the photography shifts towards space, material and circulation. The reception area, interior finishes and staircase provide opportunities to capture the relationship between architectural details, lighting and perspective.

Rather than producing only conventional documentation, the aim was to create a complete visual representation of L A Architect’s work — combining hero views, architectural details and interior spaces.

For me, good architectural photography is about understanding what the architect has designed, then finding the perspective that makes those decisions visible.
