VIÌA by FIVE SENSES: Architectural Photography in KL Eco City, Kuala Lumpur

VIÌA by FIVE SENSES is a contemporary residential development located in KL Eco City, Kuala Lumpur, combining modern architecture, refined interiors and a high-rise urban lifestyle.

I was commissioned to photograph VIÌA by FIVE SENSES as part of its visual presentation, documenting the architecture, interiors and lifestyle spaces through professional architectural photography.

The project is a good example of how photography can translate a designed space into a visual experience — not simply recording what is there, but showing how the architecture, materials, light and atmosphere work together.

Photographing VIÌA by FIVE SENSES

For this project, my approach was to create a collection of images that communicates the character of VIÌA clearly and naturally.

Rather than relying heavily on props or artificial styling, I focused on the architecture itself: the proportions of the spaces, material details, natural light, furniture arrangement and relationship between interior and exterior.

For residential and hospitality-related projects, these details are particularly important.

A wide photograph can establish the overall space, but carefully selected compositions help communicate the quality of the architecture and interior design.

Architectural Photography in KL Eco City

Located within KL Eco City, VIÌA is part of one of Kuala Lumpur’s major integrated urban developments.

Its location creates a strong relationship between the residential environment and the surrounding cityscape. This also makes aerial and elevated perspectives particularly useful when photographing the project.

For architectural photography, the surrounding context can be just as important as the building itself.

A successful image should help the viewer understand not only what the building looks like, but also where it belongs within the city.

Interior Photography

The interiors at VIÌA by FIVE SENSES were photographed with an emphasis on space, light and material.

My goal with interior photography is not simply to make a room look larger.

It is about maintaining accurate perspective while creating an image that feels natural, balanced and inviting.

This requires careful control of:

  • Perspective and vertical lines
  • Natural and artificial light
  • Exposure balance
  • Colour and material reproduction
  • Furniture composition
  • Architectural details
  • Relationship between different spaces

For professionally designed interiors, these elements can make a significant difference to how a project is perceived.

Why Professional Architectural Photography Matters

Architecture photography is often the first point of contact between a project and its audience.

Before visiting a building, staying at a property, contacting a designer or considering a development, people often see the photographs first.

Good architectural photography therefore needs to do more than document a space.

It needs to communicate design, atmosphere, quality and intention.

For architects, developers, interior designers and hospitality brands, professional photography can become part of the project’s long-term visual identity — appearing across websites, portfolios, marketing campaigns, publications and social media.

The photographs featured in this project were created by WeiLoke Photography, a Kuala Lumpur-based commercial architectural photographer specialising in architecture, interiors, hospitality, retail and commercial spaces.

My approach combines architectural composition, natural light and controlled post-production to create images that represent the design accurately while remaining visually engaging.

Every project presents a different challenge.

For VIÌA by FIVE SENSES, the focus was on creating a visual collection that reflects the relationship between architecture, interior design, lifestyle and the Kuala Lumpur city environment.

Looking Beyond the Photograph

A strong architectural photograph should make the viewer want to understand the space.

It should communicate the architect’s idea.

It should reveal the interior designer’s decisions.

It should show the developer’s investment.

And ultimately, it should help the project stand out.

That is how I approach architectural photography.

I don’t just photograph buildings. I photograph the design behind them.
